About NSDS

The NSDS is a scientific society for all healthcare professionals with an interest in spinal deformities. The purpose of the society is to promote research, prevention and treatment of spinal deformities.

The Society was founded in 1975 as the Nordic Scoliosis Society. In 1996, other deformities of the spine were included. The name of the Society was adapted accordingly to the Nordic Spinal Deformities Society.

The Society organises at least one scientific meeting per year - the annual meeting which is held in August. The location of the meeting rotates between the member countries.

Membership is open for physicians and other professionals primarily from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden or the Netherlands, who spend a considerable part of their working activity in the field of spine deformities and related problems. Application for new membership must be supported by two existing members in writing and finally, the membership has to be approved by the General Assembly.

The General Assembly is the highest organ of the Society.
